Resources/Conversion Funnels/Funnels overview

Funnels overview

What conversion funnels measure and when to use them.

A conversion funnel tracks how visitors progress through a defined sequence of steps and where they drop off. Use funnels for any multi-step flow: signup, onboarding, checkout, lead capture or feature adoption.

What a funnel tells you

  • The overall conversion rate from first step to last.
  • The exact step where most people leave (your biggest opportunity).
  • How long each step takes to complete.
  • Revenue generated by visitors who complete it.

Steps can be pages or events

Each step is either a page view (matched by URL) or a custom event (e.g. "added to cart"). You can mix both in one funnel — for example: visit pricing → click upgrade → reach checkout → purchase event.
