Resources/Surveys & Feedback/When surveys appear

When surveys appear

Triggers, frequency capping, scheduling and the launcher tab that opens a survey on demand.

The Display tab controls the moment a survey is asked and how often the same person can be asked again.

Where it shows

Show the survey chooses between the on-site widget, a link to the hosted page, or both. Link-only surveys skip every trigger below — the visitor arrives already intending to answer.

Triggers

  • Delay after load (ms) — wait a moment before asking.
  • Seconds on the page — ask only visitors who stayed.
  • Scrolled past (%) — ask once they have read far enough to have an opinion.
  • Idle seconds — ask when the visitor stops interacting.
  • CSS selector — ask when a specific element is clicked, which is how you attach a survey to your own "Give feedback" button.
  • Close on exit intent — ask as the pointer leaves toward the tab bar.

Frequency

  • Show at most / Every (days) — cap how often the survey is offered.
  • Remember across visits — persist that cap between sessions instead of resetting each visit.
  • Stop showing after someone responds — the usual choice; combine with Wait before asking a responder again (days) for recurring surveys such as NPS.

The launcher tab

Show a launcher tab puts a small permanent tab on the page edge. Set its Label, Text, Background and Position, and optionally a different Message once closed. With a launcher, a visitor who dismissed the survey can still come back to it.

Scheduling

Starts and Ends take the survey live and retire it automatically, so a seasonal survey does not need a calendar reminder.

Consent and spam

Ask for consent before submitting adds a checkbox with your Consent text, optionally Required to submit. The Spam trap adds a hidden field that automated submissions fill in and real people never see. Survey capture also requires the feedback consent category — see Consent mode & categories.

A survey with no trigger set shows as soon as the page loads. That is rarely what you want on a content page.
