Variants & A/B testing forms

Run competing versions of a form and let the numbers pick the winner.

The Variants tab lets one form hold several versions. Visitors are split between them by weight, and impressions and conversions are recorded per variant.

Variants tab with two weighted variants

Setting it up

  1. Add a variant. It starts as a copy of the current design and content.
  2. Change one thing — the headline, the offer, the trigger, the form type.
  3. Set the weights. 50/50 is the default and the fastest to reach a conclusion.
  4. Publish and leave it alone until you have enough submissions to tell the variants apart.

Change one thing at a time

If you change the headline and the offer and the trigger, a win tells you nothing about why. The point of a variant test is attributing the difference.

Reading the result

Compare conversion rate, not raw conversions — an unevenly weighted split makes raw counts meaningless. Small differences on small samples are noise; a 20% relative difference on a few hundred impressions per variant is not yet a result.

This is a form-level split. To test a change to the page rather than the widget, use A/B testing.
